The article discusses networking as an intervention procedure in Social work. To this end, first the contradictory and complex context where networking operates is taken into account, involving the Welfare State crisis, the emergence of the Third Sector and the constant changes in the configuration of life in society; then, a brief account of the main contributions to the debate on the topic is given from the perspective of mental health and the social dimension. On the basis of these considerations, the article attempts to put forward the idea of networking as a possibility of breaking away from traditional forms of response to the ever increasing and complex demands resulting from contemporary societal transformations.
