Graduate Studies, course and syllabus design and Brazilian scenario: some brief thoughts

Resumo: This paper looks into particular aspects of the design of the Academic Master’s Degree Program in Social Work and Regional Development (PPGSSDR) of the Fluminense Federal University. It presents the debate about the main changes in the higher education policy in Brazil and describes the state of the art of the above-mentioned Program, while considering the main strategies and challenges to its consolidation. Problematizations are compiled from the literature on the theme and documental analysis of materials produced by CAPES, by the Fluminense Federal University and by ABEPSS (Brazilian Association for Research and Education in Social Work), including the political/pedagogical project of the program.

Assim, busca-se construir reflexões sobre os impactos produzidos pelo contexto do ajuste fiscal e dos cortes orçamentários do governo brasileiro, sobre as condições materiais objetivas para a consolidação do Programa. No momento em que o Serviço Social Brasileiro comemora 40 anos no âmbito da Pós-Graduação, torna-se necessário examinar esta conjuntura atual. As problematizações contidas neste trabalho foram extraídas de pesquisa bibliográfica e documental das normatizações e legislações internas e externas sobre o Programa.
