Post-qualitative research: critical contributions from poststructural feminism

Resumo: The purpose of this article is to take a journey through the development of feminist epistemology, whose contributions to the social sciences have traveled from the exposure of theandrocentric bias of its research, the rejection of the notions of objectivity and neutrality of traditional empirical methods, to the display of the power-based systems that create and recreate the concepts used by science within a particular social and political system. Even though women were the main object of study of feminist epistemologies at first, its interest has shifted toward other subjects that have been left out, inquiring about the  conditions of possibility that have maintained deeply unequal societies. Three feminist epistemological perspectives are reviewed here, with emphasis on feminist poststructuralism due to its contributions to post-Cartesian post-qualitative research.

Si en un primer momento fueron las mujeres el principal objeto de estudio del feminismo, su interés se ha desplazado a otros marginados, indagando sobre las condiciones de posibilidad que mantienen sociedadesprofundamente desiguales. Se revisan tres corrientes de epistemologías feministas, con énfasis en el postestructuralismo feminista por sus contribuciones en la investigación postcualitativa postcartesiana. O objetivo do artigo é fazer uma viagem pelo desenvolvimento de epistemologias feministas,cujas contribuições para as ciências sociais vão desde a exposição do viés androcêntrico de suas pesquisas, a rejeição das noções de objetividade e neutralidade dos métodos empíricos tradicionais, até a exposição dos sistemas de poder que criam e recriam os conceitos usados pela ciência em um determinado sistema social e político. Se a princípio as mulheres eram o principal objeto de estudo do feminismo, seu interesse se deslocou para outros marginalizados, indagando sobre as condições de possibilidade que mantêm sociedades profundamente desiguais.
