Anti-systemic movements and humanization of childbirth movement: theoretical approaches

Resumo: It is proposed to discuss the possibility of analyzing the humanization of childbirth movement from the concept of anti-systemic movements developed by Wallerstein (2006) in the book "Unthinking social science: limits of nineteenth-century paradigms". Our intention is to revise this concept in comparison with texts of Santos (1997, 2001), Scherer-Warren (2012) and Grosfoguel (2008). We conclude there can be a preliminary integration of the concept into the characterization of this movement, under the condition of an extension of the concept of capitalist world-economy to other forms of power relations such as patriarchalism, colonialism, ethnocentrism and sexism.

We conclude there can be a preliminary integration of the concept into the characterization of this movement, under the condition of an extension of the concept of capitalist world-economy to other forms of power relations such as patriarchalism, colonialism, ethnocentrism and sexism. Se propone discurrir sobre la posibilidad de analizar el movimiento de humanización de la asistencia al parto a partir del concepto de movimientos anti-sistémicos desarrollado por Wallerstein (2006) en la obra "Impensar la ciencia social: los límites de los paradigmas del siglo XIX". La intención es hacer una revisión de ese concepto, cotejando los textos de Santos (1997; 2001), Scherer-Warren (2012) y Grosfoguel (2008). Concluimos por la integración preliminar del concepto a la caracterización de ese movimiento, bajo la condición de una ampliación del concepto de economía-mundo capitalista hacia otras formas de relaciones de poder como el patriarcalismo, el colonialismo, el etnocentrismo y el sexismo.Propõe-se discorrer sobre a possibilidade de analisar o movimento de humanização da assistência ao parto a partir do conceito de movimentos anti-sistêmicos desenvolvido por Wallerstein (2006) na obra “Impensar a ciência social: os limites dos paradigmas do século XIX”. A intenção é fazer uma revisão desse conceito em cotejamento com os textos de Santos (1997; 2001), Scherer-Warren (2012) e Grosfoguel (2008). Concluímos pela integração preliminar do conceito à caracterização desse movimento, sob a condição de uma ampliação do conceito de economia-mundo capitalista para outras formas de relações de poder como o patriarcalismo, o colonialismo, o etnocentrismo e o sexismo.
