Resumo: Ecological aspects of Marmosa murina were verified between Junuary 200 and 2001, in an area of the Atlantic  Forest of Samarco Mineração S. A., in Anchieta, Espírito Santo. The animals were studied by capture – mark – recapture methods, with open traps on the ground in the branches of the trees.  An effort towards capture of 3,171 trap- nights resulted in 100 captures of which 40 were individuals of M. murina, presenting a similar proportion between males the females. The majority of captures were during the period of least rainfall, probably owing to the greater movement of the animals in the search for food.  After being set free, the individuals, preferential route of escape was via branches of the trees.
