Role of leadership styles in the worker's organizational ties: analysis in public and private hospital institutions

Resumo: This paper analyzes the relationship between workers 'ties to the organization and managers' leadership styles in the nursing teams of public and private hospitals. This study is characterized as a case study, of a descriptive nature, in which two hospital institutions participated, one belonging to the public sector and the other to the private sector. The results indicate that organizational commitment and commitment ties were more strongly related to the transformational leadership style, while organizational entrenchment correlated only with the absence of leadership. In this way, it is possible to affirm that the ties that the workers develop with their organizations are related to the management styles of their managers, or the absence of these.

Este estudo baseou-se em um desenho de corte transversal em 347 profisionais de enfermagem de duas instituições hospitalares, uma pertencente ao setor público e a outra ao privado. Os resultados apontam que os vínculos de comprometimento e consentimento organizacionais se relacionaram mais fortemente com o estilo de liderança transformacional, ao passo que o entrincheiramento organizacional se correlacionou apenas com a ausência de liderança.
