Resumo: The aim of this article is to analyze the Real Plan (1993-2002) by introducing a sociological theory of inflation, the core of which links inflation and social conflict, showing the progress and the limits of this theory. To achieve this goal, it is also necessary to introduce the concept of inflationary coalition to explain the long survival of inflation and the concept of stabilizing coalition in order to understand the success of monetary stabilization. Keywords: conflict, coalition, inflation, monetary stabilization, Real Plan, Cardoso government.
