Resumo: This paper presents a literature review on the role of the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court concerningcriminal, penitentiary, and security policies, mapping themes, types of court intervention, andleading theories and theses. From an initial bibliographic survey of 1250 texts using the Publishor Perish software, 190 publications were selected for in-depth analysis. Five main thematic axeswere identified: “actors, discourses and judicial behavior,” “criminalization,” “public security,”“punishment and incarceration,” and “procedural guarantees and prerogatives.” There was aprevalence of productions in the legal area, with doctrinal and jurisprudential readings anddescriptive studies on decisions of great repercussion, with few works mobilizing as literature ofjudicial policy. And studies on crime, violence, and public security, whose paths suggest advancingthis research agenda.
