Resumo: | The article discusses the relationship between social contestation movements and the functioning of markets, based on the analysis of the dynamics of the field of steel production in the Amazon region. The study presents the different strategies mobilized by the firms in this field, in order to face the challenges posed by social criticism regarding the existence of slave work in the charcoal supply chain. Based on A. Hirschman’s typology, the research has identified three general firm strategies (exit, voice, and loyalty) and has correlated them with the social properties of the business groups in the economic field. |
