This article investigates changes in the demands, repertoires and identities of social movements, using a relational approach. Analyzing the Peasant Women’s Movement in the State of Santa Catarina (MMC-SC), this article analyses the changes in the movement in its thirty to seven years of history, arguing that the analysis based on the relations that the movement establishes with other social actors, such as the State, political parties, and other civil society organizations, is an important key for understanding their changes. It is through social relations that the MMCSC negotiates and constitutes its claims and repertoires, and demarcates the differences that constitute the subjects represented. Based on the analysis of semi-structured interviews carried out with militants of the MMC, a bibliographic review, and the analysis of publications of the movement, this article revisits some of these relationships to understand the changes that the social movement went through, arguing the potential of a relational study
