Resumo: In this paper, I present an analysis of illustrations of optics in widely-read materials published from the end of the 17th century to the end of the 18th century. My goal is to show that the visual repertoire of optics with a geometrical bias – as we see nowadays – was already established in this period, when studies about light were rising, as well as the development of optical instruments such as the microscope and the telescope. I hope this analysis contributes to new approaches to the optics in classroom situations.
