The concepts of space and time as protagonists in the teaching of Physics

Resumo: | This paper discusses the importance of addressing historical and philosophical concepts of space and time in Basic Education. For this, the present survey was carried out in order to assess the relevance of certain pedagogical strategies which discusses the construction of science to light aspects of Nature of Science. After an extensive historical research on these concepts, some moments we consider to be more relevant within the Basic Education, to be addressed in the classroom, were elected. These moments are: 1) Galileo and the geometrization of space and time; 2) The Mechanics of Newton and the space and absolute time; 3) The Relativity of Einstein and the space and relative time. In the light of this historical and philosophical panorama, a teaching sequence was implemented and constantly evaluated considering the following items: historical background; presentation / questioning of concepts; performing activities; and evaluation. This process allowed us to have an extensive material for analysis and evaluation by the end of the school year. |

This process allowed us to have an extensive material for analysis and evaluation by the end of the school year.O presente trabalho busca discutir a importância de abordar histórica e filosoficamente os conceitos de espaço e tempo na educação básica e apresentar os relatos de uma experiência realizada em sala de aula. Para isso, realizou-se uma pesquisa-ação com a finalidade de avaliar a relevância de determinadas estratégias pedagógicas onde discutiu-se não apenas a ciência, mas também o processo de construção do conhecimento científico. Após uma vasta pesquisa histórica sobre esses conceitos elegeu-se alguns momentos, que julgamos os mais relevantes dentro da Educação Básica, para serem abordados em sala de aula. Esses momentos foram: 1) Galileu e a geometrização do espaço e tempo; 2) A Mecânica de Newton e o espaço e tempo absoluto; 3) A Relatividade de Einstein e o espaço e tempo relativo. À luz desse panorama histórico e filosófico, construiu-se uma sequência didática que foi implantada e avaliada através de uma pesquisa-ação com os seguintes itens: contextualização histórica; apresentação/Problematização dos conceitos; realização de atividades; atividade de avaliação. Esse processo permitiu que ao final de um ano letivo tivéssemos um farto material para análise e avaliação.
