Resumo: | A reduced cost experimental procedure, in which the boiling point of water at room temperature is obtained, is presented. This procedure involves the introduction of water inside a fluorescent lamp discarded by techniques already described in the literature and included in this study. In addition to the observation of the room temperature boiling, the internal pressure of fluorescent lamps can be experimentally consistently obtained through the use of tap water previously boiled, which leads to the elimination of gaseous impurities dissolved therein; it is also suggested a technique to make more accurate the determination of the volume occupied by gases in the lamp. Steps to reduce to a minimum level of contamination when performing this procedure in a school environment are described. |

Boiling water at room temperature?Levando água à ebulição à temperatura ambiente?A reduced cost experimental procedure, in which the boiling point of water at room temperature is obtained, is presented.
