The teaching of astronomy and the history and philosophy of science in the view of astronomy teachers in undergraduate physics courses

Resumo: | In this work, we present the results of a research that sought to outline the discipline of astronomy in physics degrees courses in southern Brazil. Based on a more comprehensive research, in this work we focus the discussion on the view of the teachers of these courses regarding the history and philosophy of science and their teaching practice in the initial training of physics teachers. To reach these teachers, we used data from the 2017 National Student Performance Exam platform and identified twenty-eight institutions that have a degree in physics course with astronomy subjects in their curriculum. Through the teachers' answers to a questionnaire, we categorized some views on the scientific activity and practice of these teachers with the undergraduates, identifying some inadequate views such as the unproblematic view and the empirical-inductivist view, although we have also identified positive statements in this regard. Discussing the responses of these professors along with what has been pointed out in the teaching of astronomy and science in general, we suggest that, as it is a topic that usually draws students' attention, we should be concerned about possible inadequate views in the teaching of astronomy, as they can be reflected in the formation of the physics teacher and, consequently, in their future practice with high school students. |

Después de identificar los cursos que tienen esta materia en su plan de estudios, implementamos un cuestionario con los profesores activos y discutimos su visión sobre temas como la enseñanza de la astronomía, su práctica docente y sobre elementos de la historia y filosofía de la ciencia en el ámbito de la astronomía. . Si bien algunas respuestas indican una buena articulación de los docentes en relación a estos temas, encontramos algunas visiones inadecuadas sobre la actividad científica que pueden reflejarse en la formación de los profesores de física y, consecuentemente, en su práctica con estudiantes de secundaria.Apresentamos neste trabalho os resultados de uma pesquisa que buscou traçar um panorama da disciplina de astronomia nas licenciaturas em física do sul do Brasil. A partir de uma pesquisa mais abrangente, neste trabalho concentramos a discussão na visão dos professores desses cursos a respeito da história e filosofia da ciência e sua prática docente na formação inicial de professores de física. Para alcançar esses professores, utilizamos dados da plataforma do Exame Nacional de Desempenho dos Estudantes de 2017 e identificamos vinte e oito instituições que possuem licenciatura em física com disciplinas de astronomia em sua matriz curricular. Por meio das respostas dos professores a um questionário, categorizamos algumas visões sobre a atividade científica e a prática desses professores junto aos licenciandos, identificando algumas visões inadequadas como a visão aproblemática e a visão empírico-indutivista, embora também tenhamos identificado falas positivas a esse respeito.
