Resumo: The present study aimed to understand the public-school files, specifically the Belvinda Brook State school located in the city of Montes Claros, Minas Gerais, while place of (re) (des) construction of the educational process through the collection stored. The theory offered a systemic vision of the mechanisms of formation and operation of the existing processes of education on the school archive. The study methodology consisted of visits to the archive of that School; investigation of documental types; the place where the documentation is stored; State examination of the acquis; and interviews with employees of the institution, those responsible for the collection.

A metodologia de estudo se constituiu de visitas ao arquivo da referida Escola; investigação dos tipos documentais; averiguação do local onde a documentação se encontra armazenada; exame do estado do acervo; e entrevistas com os trabalhadores da Instituição, em especial os responsáveis pelo acervo.
