The applicability of contemporary Diplomatic in medical records of patients

The paper analyzes the feasibility of applying the concepts of Diplomatic to documents such as the Patient Record (PR). This approach allows determining the document’s trustworthy, the ability an archival document must have to ensure the facts it claims, and its authenticity, which is the ability of an archival document to be what it says it is. The following specific objectives are present: the evaluation of the Diplomatic study object in the current context and throughout its evolution in what concerns Archivology; the identification of norms and resolutions with specific recommendations available on the web for the standardization of PR creation; the diplomatic analysis of PR, considering the model used by TEAMBrasil, InterPARES 3 Project in their study cases. The analysis has three parts. The first one is a study of the evolution of Diplomatic and its study object over time; the second part is a search for standards and resolutions to produce PR; and the third part is an analysis of PR per the model used by TEAMBrasil. The conclusion shows that Patient Record may be diplomatically analyzed, since some measures are taken to attest a stable content, which would bring great benefits to everyone involved in the creation and usage of this kind of document.
