Information literacy in the brazilian archival science undergraduate courses

The objective is to map the presence of the Information Literacy subject in the courses of Archival Science in the Brazilian Universities, by locating and evaluating the curricular degrees and of the identification and analysis of the disciplines with the subject Information Literacy in these curricula having as a parameter the “Information literacy competency standards for higher Education”, elaborated by the American Library Association. The research is characterized by a qualitative and exploratory approach. The construction of the theoretical reference was possible through a Bibliographic Survey that subsidized the development of the Case Study, where Documentary Research was used as a source of evidence and Content Analysis to analyze the documents listed. It was observed that the Information Literacy/Archival Science dyad moves slowly, although in the scope of undergraduate courses there are two disciplines that contemplate the subject explicitly and six other disciplines that contemplate in a transversal way, according to the categories proposed in this study. It is worth emphasizing that the approach developed in this research, on the Insertion of Information Literacy in the courses of Archival Science in Brazil, does not cover all the gaps related to the subject, but aims, above all, to encourage the development of other studies that relate the relevance of the insertion of this thematic in the archival discussions.
