Resumo: The analysis aims to present a gesture of reading on the formulations of one of the doctors who signed death certificates in 1896, documents kept by the Intendency and preserved in the Municipal Historical Archive of Santa Maria. In these  documents is observed the moving of meanings and the crossing of ideology in discourse, where a doctor was selected in a way to recognize the movements of their own professional category language expression, with the actual enrollment in its history based on the notion of discursive formation.
