Resumo: The objective of this study was to present some theoretical and methodological notes on the documentary research, using the archive of the judiciary. The spatial and temporal clipping was reflecting the Gonçalves Chaves Forum Archive of Montes Claros, Minas Gerais, between 2000 and 2013. Our sources were criminal proceedings, as well as a place of memory that stores this documentation, the Research Division and Regional Documentation of the State University of Montes Claros. The methodology used for the research was the Indicting Method, as well as the bibliographic review about the subject.

Nossas fontes foram processos criminais, bem como um lugar de memória que armazena essa documentação, a Divisão de Pesquisa e Documentação Regional da Universidade Estadual de Montes Claros.
