Resumo: Presents the path travelled by the Central Archive of the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) to deploy the Electronic Document Management (EDM) and document management institutional support. Use literature the concept, advantages, disadvantages and benefits arising from the implementation of the EDM. Describes how the utilization of this new form of access to institutional data, using tools of information technology by the user community. The software Neutron from the MGS Imagem & Informação was used to setting the EDM at UFSC.
