The Paleografia Archive in the District of Évora, Portugal: experience report

Resumo: This report presents the experience with Paleografia through volunteering in the District Archive of Évora (ADEVR) in Portugal, held during participation in the International Academic Mobility Program of Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF). It presents reflections on Paleografia. Describes the environment in which it was held volunteering in the case, the ADEVR (creation, mission, document types, sectors, among others), which enabled the paleographic reading of the documents of one of the funds custody: the bottom archival Ecclesiastical Chamber of Évora . Discusses the difficulties encountered during practice with Paleography, however, even having contact with the theory through the course Paleography and Diplomatic Modern taught at the University of Évora (EU). Finally, we emphasize the importance of studying Paleografia as fundamental knowledge in academic training Archival students, who must be empowered to act on written documentation management both in existing as obsolete characters.

Descreve o ambiente em que foi realizado o voluntariado, no caso, o ADEVR (criação, missão, tipologias documentais, setores, dentre outros), que possibilitou a leitura paleográfica dos documentos de um dos fundos que custodia: o fundo arquivístico Câmara Eclesiástica de Évora. Discorre sobre as dificuldades encontradas durante a prática com a Paleografia, contudo, mesmo tendo contato com a teoria por meio da unidade curricular Paleografia e Diplomática Moderna lecionada na Universidade de Évora (UE).
