The profile and the information needs of the users of the historical archive of Joinville (SC)

: This research aims to identify the profile of the users of the Historical Archive of Joinville (AHJ) and its information needs, with the purpose of contributing with an institution for the definition of strategies of management and planning of activities with a focus on users. Characterized as a documental research, with a qualitative approach, the analyzed data were extracted from AHJ administrative documents, comprising a period of two years (2016 and 2017), aiming to identify the profile of users and their greater information needs, from their personal data and records of the documents searched. The profile of AHJ users, identified from the most frequent characteristics among researchers, can be said to be male and female adults (between 20 and 59 years old), living in Joinville and trained in higher education. The need for information from these researchers consists of researching and accessing, mainly, newspapers, clipboards and iconographic documents. It is not possible to identify the need for access to different document supports (physical or digital) as well as the documentary typologies of iconographic documents. The results show that the administrative documents consulted need to be reformulated, as well as the registration methodology of the researchers and documents searched.
