ResumoEste artigo apresenta três diferentes abordagens da retórica antiga: a retórica em Isócrates, em Platão e, por fim, em Aristóteles. O foco de nossa investigação está em como eles apresentam a moralidade da retórica. Defende-se que a retórica de Isócrates é moral e implica uma cultura política. Em Platão a retórica é imoral e posteriormente há uma tentativa de torná-la filosófica. Finalmente Aristóteles apresenta uma retórica moralmente neutra.AbstractThis paper presents three different approaches to ancient rhetoric: rhetoric in Isocrates, in Plato, and finally in Aristotle. The focus of our research is how they present the morality of rhetoric. It is argued that the rhetoric of Isocrates is moral and implies a political culture. In Plato rhetoric is immoral and subsequently there is an attempt to make it philosophical. Finally Aristotle presents a morally neutral rhetoric.
