Freire-CTS and/or CTS-Freire? contributions to science teaching

Resumo: Approaches and differences were presented and discussed on the Freirean Thematic Approach and STS education in Science Education, recognizing different terminologies: Freire-STS and STS-Freire. Based on these references, a bibliographic research was carried out on works and publications in periodicals, referring to educational and formative processes. The choice of thematic was considered, in which the origin of the themes in Freire and in STS is different, above all, by the realization or absence of the Thematic investigation process, as well as the focus of the discussions and the approached contexts, in which the problems assume local or global scopes and, depending on the intention of the proposal to be developed, are limited to problematizations in the scientific-technological field or considering the multiple sectors of society. It is argued about the importance of articulating these references, aiming at more critical educational and training processes that promote social participation.

It is argued about the importance of articulating these references, aiming at more critical educational and training processes that promote social participation.Apresentaram-se e discutiram-se aproximações e distanciamentos sobre a Abordagem Temática Freireana e a Educação CTS no Ensino de Ciências, reconhecendo terminologias distintas: Freire-CTS e CTS-Freire. Com base nesses referenciais, realizou-se a pesquisa bibliográfica de obras e publicações em periódicos, referentes a processos educativos e formativos. Considerou-se a escolha da temática, na qual a origem dos temas em Freire e em CTS é diferente, sobretudo, pela realização ou ausência do processo de Investigação Temática, bem como o foco das discussões e dos contextos abordados, em que as problemáticas assumem abrangências locais ou globais e, a depender da intencionalidade da proposta a ser desenvolvida, limitam-se a problematizações no campo científico-tecnológico ou considerando os múltiplos setores da sociedade.
