Resumo: | The present article aims to use the thought of Álvaro Vieira Pinto in the scope of the philosophical reflection of the field of Science, Technology and Society (STS) education. The author's ideas were used to analyze the assumptions of STS education and the myths of science and technology identified by Auler (2002). They are: superiority of the technocratic decision-making model, the salvationist perspective of science and technology and technological determinism. The analysis was centered on the books Science and Existence and The Concept of Technology. As a result, it was found that the myths are concepts that have been disseminated and gradually used to underpin control strategies through the hegemonic centers. In the case of Brazil, the thinking of Álvaro Vieira Pinto is capable of contextualizing such myths in a broader perspective of exploitation of a undeveloped nation through technology transfer mechanisms that drain national wealth and block its development. |
