Student engagement in educational practices founded by STS education

Resumo: In this article, we present a characterization of what has been understood by engagement in educational practices linked to STS education. To this end, an investigative immersion was carried out, based on Discursive Textual Analysis, in studies in the field of scientific education, and then, considering this theoretical framework, we analyzed the STS production in the area of Science teaching centered on classroom practices. Specifically, Brazilian theses, articles published in journals in the field of Science education and papers presented at ENPEC were analyzed. From the analysis of this corpus, it was possible to recognize three dimensions of engagement linked to STS Education, associated with the exercise of voice, the mobilization and appropriation of knowledge and sociopolitical action
