Resumo: The article aims to contribute to the understanding of the connection between text and ideology articulated by the text-oriented analysis of discourse (ADTO). Based on the reflections of Fairclough (1989, 2001, 2003) and Fairclough and Chouliaraki (1999), the debate presents the social ontology that ADTO uses to base its conception of social life as an open system and textually mediated; the article then explains the chronological-narrative development of the main critical theories of ideology, by virtue of which ADTO organizes the assumptions that underpin the particular use it makes of the term. Finally, the discussion presents the main aspects of the connection between text and ideology, offering a conceptual framework that can contribute to the domain of the theme according to a critical discourse analysis approach.

Con base en las reflexiones de Fairclough (1989, 2001, 2003) y Fairclough y Chouliaraki (1999), se presenta, inicialmente, la ontología de lo social de que ADTO lanza mano para fundamentar su concepción de vida social como sistema abierto y textualmente mediado; después, se explora el recorrido cronológico-narrativo de desarrollo de las principales teorías críticas de la ideología, en virtud de las cuales la ADTO organiza los presupuestos que sostienen el uso particular que realiza del término; por último, se puntualizan los principales aspectos de la conexión entre el texto y la ideología, ofreciendo un marco conceptual que puede contribuir al dominio del tema de acuerdo con un enfoque crítico de análisis de discurso.Este artigo tem o propósito de contribuir para a compreensão da conexão entre texto e ideologia, articulada pela análise de discurso textualmente orientada (ADTO).
