Resumo: With reference to Norton (2015), Ianni (2001), Bauman (1999) Anderson (2008) and Andreotti (2010), the article aims to search for semantic features incorporated to the term internationalization under the premise that they are part of the social imaginary and thus permeate the institutional imaginary of the Federal Technological University of Paraná in Curitiba. The starting point is the term nation, which is subjected to etymological, morphosemantic and conceptual analysis in search of semantic traits potentially shared with the word internationalization. In fact, these two terms belong to a pluridisciplinary semantic set made of bundles of semantic features seldom erased once they are semantically incorporated to the term. Interestingly enough, morphologically distinct words, such as homeland and country, yield traits of meaning melted to the semantic core of the term internationalization as far as perceptions of the term at UTFPR are concerned.
