Examining the behavior of the Language Shanenawa (Pano)

Resumo: This article aims to examine the behavior of the language Shanenawa in the case of the stress clashes on the compound word level, i. e., if this language, like many others, demonstrates rejection of sequences of stressed syllables. Furthermore, we analyze whether there is some kind of morphological determination for secondary stress and the relation of this stress with the syllable weight. To this end, our research is based on the studies of Kenstowciz, Hayes, Spencer and also a metric grid proposed by Liberman and Prince. The analysis is based on data from recordings of words pronounced by native speakers of that language.

The analysis is based on data from recordings of words pronounced by native speakers of that language.Este artículo tiene como propósito principal analizar el comportamiento de la lengua Shanenawa frente a la posibilidad del choque de acentos (stress clashes) en el nivel de las palabras compuestas, indicando, si esa lengua, como muchas otras, demuestra haber un rechazo por las secuencias de sílabas acentuadas. Además, también se analiza si existe algún tipo de determinación morfológica para el acento secundario, así como la relación de ese acento con el peso silábico. Para tanto, nuestra investigación toma por base los estudios de Kenstowicz, Hayes, Spencer e, incluso, una tabla métrica propuesta por Liberman y Prince. El análisis se basa en grabaciones de palabras pronunciadas por hablantes nativos de dicha lengua.Este artigo tem por principal objetivo analisar o comportamento da língua Shanenawa diante da possibilidade do choque de acentos (stress clashes) no nível de palavras compostas, ou seja, se essa língua, como muitas outras, demonstra rejeição às sequências de sílabas acentuadas. Ademais, analisamos ainda se existe algum tipo de determinação morfológica para o a acento secundário e a relação desse acento com o peso silábico. Para tanto, a nossa pesquisa tem como base os estudos de Kenstowicz, Hayes, Spencer e, também, uma grade métrica proposta por Liberman e Prince.
