The elderly as the object of nursing home discursive practice: the precaution of vulnerable lives

Resumo: | In this article, we analyze how the elderly are positioned in the discourse as an object of practice that is manifested in the institutional space of the nursing home São Vicente de Paulo, in Jacarezinho, PR. To do so, we start with a discussion about discursive practice - reference, object, and associative domain - and the precariousness of elderly people living in nursing homes, relating them to the way the body is inscribed in a mechanism that manages death by the government, exercised over the vulnerability implied in that space. The enunciative series was extracted from official documents, medical records, and interviews with those responsible for the institution. After that, these records were submitted to an archaeogenealogical analysis regarding the government and the objectification in exercise inside this institution. We first considered that vulnerable old age is an emblematic statement of this practice and, as such, allows us to identify a regularity around the incapacity, invisibility, and precariousness of aged bodies on which the regulation of life and the administration of death operate. |

Para ello, partimos de una discusión sobre la práctica discursiva (referencia, objeto y dominio asociativo) y sobre la precariedad de las personas mayores que viven en asilos, relacionándolas con la forma en que el cuerpo se inscribe en un mecanismo que gestiona la muerte por medio del gobierno que se ejerce sobre la vulnerabilidad que implica ese espacio. La serie enunciativa fue extraída de documentos oficiales, registros médicos y encuestas con los responsables de la institución y sometida a un análisis arque-genealógico respecto al gobierno y la objetivación en ejercicio en esta institución. Partimos considerando que la vejez vulnerable es un enunciado emblemático de esta práctica y, como tal, permite identificar una regularidad alrededor de la incapacidad, invisibilidad y precariedad de los cuerpos envejecidos sobre los que opera la regulación de la vida y la administración de la muerte. Dans cet article, nous analysons la manière dont les personnes âgées sont positionnées dans le discours comme objet de la pratique qui se manifeste dans l'espace institutionnel de l'asile São Vicente de Paulo, à Jacarezinho, PR. Pour ce faire, nous partons d'une discussion sur la pratique discursive (le référentiel, l´objet, mais aussi le domaine associatif) et sur la précarisation des vieillards vivant à l´asile, en les mettant en relation avec la manière dont le corps s'inscrit dans un mécanisme de gestion de la mort par le gouvernement qui s'exerce sur la vulnérabilité impliquée dans cet espace. La série énonciative a été extraite de documents officiels, de dossiers médicaux et d'entretiens avec les responsables de l'institution et soumise à une analyse archéogénéalogique concernant le gouvernement et l'objectivation en exercice dans cette institution. Nous partons de la considération que la vieillesse vulnérable est un énoncé emblématique de cette pratique et, à ce titre, permet d'identifier une régularité autour de l'incapacité, de l'invisibilité et de la précarité des corps vieillis sur lesquels s'opère la régulation de la vie et l'administration de la mort.Neste artigo, analisamos o modo como o idoso é posicionado no discurso como objeto da prática que se manifesta no espaço institucional do asilo São Vicente de Paulo, em Jacarezinho, PR. Para tanto, partimos de uma discussão sobre prática discursiva (referencial, objeto e domínio associativo) e sobre precarização das vidas idosas asilares, relacionando-as ao modo como o corpo é inscrito em um mecanismo que administra a morte pelo governo que se exerce sobre a vulnerabilidade implicada nesse espaço. A série enunciativa foi extraída de documentos oficiais, prontuários médicos e entrevistas com responsáveis pela instituição e submetida a uma análise arqueogenealógica a respeito do governo e da objetivação em exercício nessa instituição.
