Resumo: This study addresses the relationship between language and culture, from the denomination of fancy names that refer to commercial enterprises, as the referential form can result from the meaning that is given to the name, constituted by its socio-cultural and linguistic functioning. The objective is to carry out, within the theoretical framework of sociolinguistics, a qualitative and quantitative research around the lexical choices (through loanwords/foreigns or not) made by entrepreneurs when naming their commercial enterprises. In order to do this, we performed a survey regarding the origin of the names of all companies in Marechal Cândido Rondon, Paraná. Subsequently, the use of German words when naming companies was verified and interviews were carried out with the entrepreneurs, to identify the relationship between the lexical choice and the speaker. Based on the investigation, it was found that, although the city has been settled mostly by German descendent, the use of the German language appears little in the denomination of fancy names.

El objetivo es realizar, dentro del marco teórico de la sociolingüística, una investigación cualitativa y cuantitativa en torno de las elecciones lexicales (por medio de préstamos lingüísticos/extranjerismos o no) hechas por los empresarios al nombraren sus establecimientos. Para ello, fue realizado un estudio del origen de los nombres de todas las empresas de Marechal Cândido Rondon, Paraná. Después, a partir del uso de germanismos en la elección del nombre comercial, se realizó una guía de entrevista con empresarios para identificar la relación entre la opción lexical y el hablante. A partir de la investigación se verificó que, aunque la ciudad tenga sido colonizada en su mayoría por descendientes alemanes, el uso de lengua alemana aparece poco en las designaciones comerciales.Este estudo aborda a relação entre língua e cultura, a partir da denominação de nomes fantasias que referenciam empresas comerciais, uma vez que a forma referencial pode resultar do sentido que é dado ao nome, constituído por seu funcionamento linguístico e sociocultural. O objetivo é realizar, dentro do aporte teórico da sociolinguística, uma pesquisa qualitativa e quantitativa em torno das escolhas lexicais (por meio de empréstimos linguísticos/estrangeirismos ou não) feitas pelos empresários ao nomearem seus estabelecimentos. Para tanto, foi realizado o levantamento da origem dos nomes de todas as empresas de Marechal Cândido Rondon, Paraná. Na sequência, a partir do uso de germanismos na escolha do nome comercial, foi realizado um roteiro de entrevista com empresários para identificar a relação entre a escolha lexical e o falante.
