Resumo: After developing a research about Orality on Portuguese textbooks used at Brazilian schools (Silva; Luna, 2014) and now undergoing another context, this study aimed at analizing speaking activities on manuals used in Portugal. By doing it so, a qualitative research whose corpus is formed by a didactic manual on the 3rd cycle of basic teaching (which, in Brazil, is equivalent to the 9th year of Elementary School) was carried out. The analyses were based on theoretical assumptions found in works like those of Marcuschi (2007); Dolz, Schneuwly and Haller (2004). The results point out that the orality axis is way present on manuals and has been partially in dialogue with current offical papers, that is, the Portuguese Curriculum Programs and Goals on Basic Education (Buescu et al, 2015). Regarding proposal types, we identified some activities that make, in a relative way, students enhance their practices on linguistic usage as well as others with less contributions to competent user training in terms of mother tongue.
