Resumo: The legal extinction of the slave system in Brazil did not end the existing racial classification. In other words, it did not represent the end of exploitation or domination over certain subjects. Thus, the objective of this paper is to foster a theoretical discussion about one of the ways in which racism acts nowadays and, on the other side, how resistance is also built. This paper answer to a clipping from a master's dissertation, whose investigation deals with the updating of the anti-racist struggle in the city of Benevides, Pará. Its methodology is bibliographical research and the principles of action research. Among the references are: Abdias Nascimento (2016), Aluizio Marino (2013;2015), Aníbal Quijano (1992;2005;2009), Frantz Fanon (2008), Grada Kilomba (2019), Lélia Gonzalez (2020) and Nilma Lino Gomes (2017). As a result, we indicate the contribution to the antiracist debate, based on a specific historical experience. It concludes that there is a need to look at the other side of repression, that is, resistance, in order to emphasize that, if the relationship of domination is updated, so are the forms of resistance.
