Resumo: | Maria Aragão was a doctor, activist of the Communist Party and, later, militant of the group called “corrente prestista” in the state of Maranhão. The final phase of her life and the after death were characterized by a series of tributes and construction of biographical and autobiographical documents, which conferred a central place to her memory in the construction of the military dictatorship memory and the “resistance” in Maranhão. Thereby, the present work is based on the autobiographical documents written by Maria Aragão and gathered in two books and a magazine published on the occasion of her birthday in 1988. The purpuse is to evaluate the significance of these productions amidst the clashes, both at national and state levels, by the reconstruction of the recent past after the dictatorial period. Thus, the omission of support / collaboration of political agents and significant sectors of society is evident, as well as the construction of an appeasing memory version, where practically everyone finds a place in the "struggle against the Dictatorship". |

Thus, the omission of support / collaboration of political agents and significant sectors of society is evident, as well as the construction of an appeasing memory version, where practically everyone finds a place in the "struggle against the Dictatorship".Maria Aragão foi médica, militante do Partido Comunista Brasileiro e, posteriormente, da chamada “corrente prestista” no Maranhão.
