Resumo: This article deals with the effects of coloniality in the Brazilian religious market, with emphasis on Umbanda. In this sense, we seek to understand the explanations of the practices of racism in the social and religious construction of Umbanda practitioners in Acarape/Ceará. In this way, coloniality is understood as a psychosocial process that concretely interferes in the lives of non-white people. The article has a qualitative design, in which semi-structured interviews were used to produce meanings and field diaries. These were transcribed, categorized by the Atlas.ti software and finally guided by the Critical Discourse Analysis technique. With this, it is concluded that blacks reported that they suffer practices of prejudice/racism, and when in confluence with their religious practices, these became more evident and intense, thus followed in the practice of religious intolerance. However, the terreiro and the relationships built in it tend to provide practices of resistance to racism and religious intolerance in a decolonial way.
