Resumo: The text describes the central questions of the dossier proposal “Subúrbios” and peripheries: actors, projects, and territories in the organization of collective memories of urban space and the contributions gathered. The proposal of the dossier was to bring together studies in the urban and symbolic fields which favor suburban or peripheral territories in association with the theme of collective memory. The presentation anticipates some of the contributions of the chosen articles and briefly discusses concepts that serve as a magnifying glass to recognize the singularities of the proposed topic.
