Resumo: This article discusses the potential of the use of photography as a teaching resource, specifically in the development of a competency: the "sociological imagination". Highlights for this, the importance of theoretical and methodological appropriation. It argues that the act of shooting, under a sociological perceptive, can provide students able to act and be situated in the social world with greater competence.
