Resumo: | Research on gender relations in Bahia have been developing since the 1970’s, including in the field of history. However, these studies have focused primarily on women, resulting in a lack of analyses of the processes of construction of masculinities. This article aims at presenting the results of the research, “São Bernardo School: the construction of masculinities (1946-1968)”. This research took a qualitative approach to the study of masculinity, analyzing school documents and testimonies from a total of 11 interviews with former students and faculty members, based on the ral History as methodology. The study sought to verify how the education offered to students in this all-boys boarding school inscribed gender images on the interns, such as to mold them according to the masculine profile socially desired by the institution as well as by the local community at large. |

No entanto, estes estudos ainda privilegiam o gênero feminino ocasionando carências de análises voltadas para os processos de constituição das masculinidades. O presente artigo tem por finalidade apresentar os resultados da pesquisa “Ginásio São Bernardo: A construção de masculinidades (1946-1968)”, de caráter qualitativo cujos dados foram obtidos por meio de análise documental e de depoimentos, num total de 11 entrevistas, de ex-alunos e ex-professores da instituição.
