Border memory: trajectories of Baja California women, from politicalstudent militancy to feminism in the 1960s-1970s

This paper analyses the trajectory of a group of women who carried out their political activities in Baja California, a land geographically distant from the rest of Latin America, but close to the Californian cities where began the 1968 protests, that gradually expanded to other parts of the world. From this border region, they studied in local public universities or in other parts of the country, where they involved in student movements and Marxist political groups, becoming part of the political global sixties’ generation and, in the 1970s, of neofeminism movements. The Marxist paradigms, the legalization of abortion and sexual liberation were the demands that they shared with Latin American and North American women with whom they connected in solidarity networks and in transnational campaigns.
