Student Movement and Social Alliance in Argentina, 1966-1976

Between the coups d'état of 1966 and 1976, in tune with what was happening in the world, Argentina experienced a mass rise with a marked student role. At its peak, there were numerous urban uprisings synthesized by local literature with the suffix "azo" that accompanies the town in which such actions took place. This article aims to study, from a comparative perspective, the alliances that the university movement made in this period. This exhibition will delve into five cases - the University of Buenos Aires, the National University of La Plata, the National University of Rosario, the National University of Córdoba and the National University of Tucumán - which accounted for approximately two-thirds of the national university enrollment , located in the main cities of the country, the last three shaken by "azos". Based on the work with an important database, the text will focus on accounting for the similarities and divergences in the alliances that the argentine student body made in their struggles , as well as in establishing the stages in which they were deployed.
