Resumo: | This paper presents the results of a research on the exchange of letters between a Portuguese language trainee teacher and her seventh grade elementary school students from a public school in Paraíba (PB). This qualitative case study research is inserted in the applied field of language studies, which is theoretically based on the conception of interaction of Bakhtin circle and the new literacy studies. Results indicate that the letters exchange had effects on literacies, because, due to the scaffolding role played by the teacher’s writing, the students appropriated the linguistic-discursive resources of the prototypical compositional structure of the genre personal letter. |

Appropriating linguistic-discursive resources needed for letter interaction: a case study in applied linguisticsA apropriação de recursos linguístico-discursivos necessários à interação via carta: um estudo de caso em linguística aplicadaThis paper presents the results of a research on the exchange of letters between a Portuguese language trainee teacher and her seventh grade elementary school students from a public school in Paraíba (PB). This qualitative case study research is inserted in the applied field of language studies, which is theoretically based on the conception of interaction of Bakhtin circle and the new literacy studies.
