Theory and practice recommendations for cataloguing teaching in Brazil

Resumo: The descriptive elements identification process so that various types of information resources were located and accessed, appeared before the teaching of it. Teaching Cataloging in bachelor's degree programs in Library in Brazilian institutions is the subject of this research. That aimed to analyze the available online curricula of universities offering the course of librarianship in order to check the current situation Cataloging, in a structural way. It appears as an object of study available online curricula of librarianship courses of public and private universities in Brazil. Documentary research in the Cadastro da Educação Superior (e-MEC) was held to take stock of universities offering Librarianship course in public and private sphere and on the websites of librarianship courses these universities in order to observe the curriculum available in order to identify the disciplines related to cataloging and analyzing the hours available for teaching, among the menus, the curriculum and the basic bibliography, mainly with the impacts that cataloging has undergone in the past decade, with the intensive use of communication and information technologies. From the results it was evident that the discipline Cataloging is present in all curricula of Brazil's librarianship courses with different terminology in each institution, and that the timetable provided by the institutions for teaching cataloging Descriptive is minimal, usually 120 hours. It is concluded that the formation of cataloguers in the universities of Brazil, goes through a time of change as a result of advances in technologies in Cataloging. Thus, it is recommended that the library schools to reassess the teaching of cataloging, greatly the number of hours available to the range of new content and its application in digital information environments, contemporaneously, and in practice the librarian in the labor market.

O ensino da Catalogação, nos cursos de bacharelado em Biblioteconomia nas instituições brasileiras é o tema dessa pesquisa. Que teve como objetivo analisar os currículos disponibilizados online pelas universidades que oferecem o curso de Biblioteconomia, com o intuito de verificar o panorama atual da Catalogação, de forma estrutural. Configura-se como objeto de estudo os currículos disponibilizados online dos cursos de Biblioteconomia das universidades públicas e privadas no Brasil. Foi realizada uma pesquisa documental no site do Cadastro da Educação Superior (e-MEC) para fazer o levantamento das universidades que oferecem o curso de Biblioteconomia no âmbito público e privado e nos sites dos cursos de Biblioteconomia dessas universidades, visando observar a grade curricular disponível, com o intuito de identificar as disciplinas relacionadas à Catalogação, bem como analisar a carga horária disponível para o ensino, entre as ementas, o conteúdo programático e a bibliografia básica, sobretudo, com os impactos que a Catalogação tem sofrido nos últimos dez anos, com o uso intensivo das Tecnologias da Informação e Comunicação (TIC). A partir dos resultados ficou evidente que a disciplina de Catalogação está presente em todos os currículos dos cursos de Biblioteconomia do Brasil, com terminologias distintas em cada instituição, e que a carga horária disponibilizada pelas instituições para o ensino da Catalogação é mínima, geralmente 120 horas. Conclui-se que a formação dos catalogadores nas universidades do Brasil, passa por um momento de mudança em decorrência dos avanços das TIC na Catalogação.
