Building Citizenship. The democratizing role of libraries in Peru

Resumo: | Objective: The objective of this article is to generate an approximation of the ways in which libraries contribute to the construction of citizenship, based on their social functions, for which libraries in Peru are taken as a reference. Method: This is a reflection article that takes up a methodology situated in a qualitative hermeneutic paradigm, assuming an exercise of analysis of theoretical and empirical sources that allows exploring the democratizing role of libraries, especially in Peru, in the construction of citizenship. Results: they show that the school library must adapt to the educational model of the school that promotes comprehensive training, respect, and multiculturalism, building democracy from the classroom and promoting values, citizenship and school coexistence. For its part, the university library is an agent of transformation and consolidation of the democratic model, strengthening the curriculum of each program and the pillars of the educational model of the university. The public library as a democratizing agent must fulfill the role of citizen education from the public, political and pedagogical aspects through programs and services. Conclusion: the articulation of the Ministry of Education and Culture is required and above all the school, university and social citizenship in the libraries. |

Método: este es un artículo de reflexión que retoma una metodología situada en un paradigma hermenéutico cualitativo, asumiendo un ejercicio de análisis de fuentes teóricas y empíricas que permite explorar el papel democratizador de las bibliotecas, especialmente en Perú, en la construcción de ciudadanía. Resultados: muestran que la biblioteca escolar debe adaptarse al modelo educativo escolar que promueva la formación integral, el respeto y la multiculturalidad, construyendo la democracia desde el aula y fomentando los valores, la ciudadanía y la convivencia escolar. A su vez, la biblioteca universitaria es un agente de transformación y consolidación del modelo democrático, fortaleciendo el currículo de cada carrera y los pilares del modelo educativo universitario. La biblioteca pública como agente democratizador debe cumplir el rol de formación ciudadana desde la perspectiva pública, política y pedagógica a través de los programas y servicios que utiliza. Conclusión: necesario articular el Ministerio de Educación y Cultura y, sobre todo, la escuela, la universidad y la ciudadanía social en las bibliotecas.Objetivo: O objetivo deste artigo é gerar uma aproximação das maneiras pelas quais as bibliotecas contribuem para a construção de cidadanias, a partir de suas funções sociais, para as quais as bibliotecas do Peru são tomadas como referência. Método: Este é um artigo de reflexão que retoma uma metodologia situada num paradigma hermenêutico qualitativo, assumindo um exercício de análise de fontes teóricas e empíricas que permite explorar o papel democratizador das bibliotecas, especialmente no Peru, na construção de cidadanias. Resultados: mostram que a biblioteca escolar deve se adequar ao modelo educacional da escola que promove a formação integral, o respeito e a multiculturalidade, construindo a democracia desde a sala de aula e promovendo valores, cidadania e convivência escolar. Por sua vez, a biblioteca universitária é um agente de transformação e consolidação do modelo democrático, fortalecendo o currículo de cada programa e os pilares do modelo educacional da universidade. A biblioteca pública como agente democratizador deve cumprir o papel de formação cidadã desde o público, político e pedagógico por meio de programas e serviços utilizada.
