The descriptive representation in the perspectives of the XXI century: an evolutionary study of the conceptual models

Resumo: The descriptive representation or cataloging is seen as a multidimensional decision process that structures and standardizes the different aspects of an information item, making it unique and subject to recovery and use. This article emphasizes the study of descriptive representation where the main objective is to analyze some conceptual models and their evolution with respect to representation of information. It also presents its features in dealing with current proposals and trends in the twenty-first century, showing the importance of each conceptual model and its possibilities of integration into virtual environments. The aim is to survey and analyze the main conceptual models used by the Library and Information Science. The results allow a broad view about the development of conceptual models and an understanding of descriptive representation in the current context of network technologies, which presents agile, simple and constantly updatable. Other contributions can be identified, such as improving the understanding of descriptive representation area, their relationships and models and provide subsidies to assist the information scientist in the representation of reality

El presente artículo cuyo objetivo principal consiste en analizar algunos modelos conceptuales y su evolución en lo que se refiere a la representación de la información enfatiza el estudio de la representación descriptiva. También presenta sus características al tratar con propuestas y tendencias actuales del siglo XXI, evidenciando la importancia de cada modelo conceptual y sus posibilidades de integración en ambientes virtuales. Se busca levantar y analizar los principales modelos conceptuales utilizados por la Biblioteconomía y la Ciencia de la Información. Los resultados obtenidos permitirán una visión amplia acerca de la evolución de los modelos conceptuales y una comprensión de la representación descriptiva en el actual contexto de las tecnologías en red, que se presenta ágil, simple y constantemente actualizable. Otras contribuciones pueden ser identificadas, como mejorar el entendimiento del área de representación descriptiva, sus relaciones y modelos además de proporcionar subsidios para auxiliar al Científico de la Información en la representación de la realidad.A representação descritiva, ou catalogação, é vista como um processo de decisão multidimensional que estrutura e padroniza os diferentes aspectos de um item informacional, tornando-o único e passível de recuperação e uso. O presente artigo cujo objetivo principal consiste em analisar alguns modelos conceituais e sua evolução no que tange à representação da informação enfatiza o estudo da representação descritiva. Apresenta ainda suas características ao lidar com propostas e tendências atuais do século XXI, evidenciando a importância de cada modelo conceitual e suas possibilidades da integração em ambientes virtuais. Busca-se levantar e analisar os principais modelos conceituais utilizados pela Biblioteconomia e Ciência da Informação.
