What happened became a cordel: analyze of cordel about Getulio Vargas´s death based on the light of likelihood

The popular cordel literature, particularly cordel of circumstance is an informational support. The poet, considered "reporter poet," quests information in other media to describe the fact in verse form. The methodology used was the verisimilitude that concedes an analysis of the real with the narrated by poets. The corpus of this study consisted of 39 (thirty-nine) leaflets of cordel that discusses the death of Getúlio Vargas. Among these, the cordel of circumstance “A morte do grande presidente Getúlio Vargas”, by Rodolfo Coelho Cavalcante written in 1954, in the same year of the death of Getúlio Vargas, was purposeful chosen. To verify the verisimilitude of the leaflet was selected news from the Brazilian Journal, available at the National Library that provides reports of the time about the death of Getúlio Vargas. The analysis proved a great similarity of real facts and the narrative, thus contributing to the "Access to Information Law."
