Resumo: The text was structured by the recognition of the thematization of culture in physical education from the reading of educational documents guiding the said area in Latin American countries. To this end, eight countries that integrate Latin America - Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Uruguay and Venezuela - have been selected, as well as the respective documents that guide the education and physical education of these countries in order to problematize how culture emerges in these different social contexts. From the reading, it was possible to verify that the culture is not one of the main subjects addressed in the documents, although it is present in the discussion that involves the area under different prisms. In short, most documents thematize the culture from perspectives in which the emphasis is on the dialogue with the area of human and social sciences, which points to the movement of the area in search of new problems that are attentive to the appreciation of human movement in physical education classes through the recognition of the cultural particularities of each country.

Para ello, se seleccionaron ocho países que integran América Latina - Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, México, Uruguay y Venezuela, así como los respectivos documentos que orientan la educación y la educación física de esos países con el propósito de problematizar como la cultura emerge en esos diferentes contextos sociales. A partir de la lectura, fue posible constatar que la cultura no es uno de los principales temas abordados en los documentos, aunque esté presente en la discusión que involucra el área bajo prismas distintos. En suma, gran parte de los documentos tematiza la cultura a partir de perspectivas en que la tónica esté en el diálogo con el área de las ciencias humanas y sociales, lo que apunta al movimiento del área en buscar nuevas problemáticas que se atenten a la valorización del movimiento humano en las clases de educación física por medio del reconocimiento de las particularidades culturales de cada país.O texto foi estruturado pelo reconhecimento da tematização da cultura na educação física a partir da leitura de documentos educacionais orientadores da referida área em países latino-americanos. Para tanto, foram selecionados oito países que integram a América Latina – Argentina, Bolívia, Chile, Colômbia, Cuba, México, Uruguai e Venezuela – bem como, os respectivos documentos que orientam a educação e a educação física desses países com o intuito de problematizar como a cultura emerge nesses diferentes contextos sociais. A partir da leitura, foi possível constatar que a cultura não é um dos principais temas abordados nos documentos, embora esteja presente na discussão que envolve a área sob prismas distintos.
