Mood state in collective sports: case study of Itatiba teams

Resumo: The purpose of this study was to investigate the mood states of athletes of collective sports, teams from the city of Itatiba/SP, participants of the regional games of 2018. Thus, the Brunel Mood Scale (BRUMS) was used, together with 34 athletes, volunteers, of both sexes, aged between 15 and 29 years. Participants belonged to 3 teams: Men's Volleyball, Women's Volleyball and Men's Basketball. The results showed that at the beginning of the competition the athletes of all the teams presented a positive state of mood, since the Vigor factor obtained the highest scores, but the Female Volleyball athletes were superior in this factor the other teams. It can be concluded that the investigated athletes had higher scores to Vigor factor, characterizing the sample with the so-called iceberg profile, a profile considered ideal for sports performance.

Así, se utilizó la Escala de Humor de Brunel (BRUMS), junto a 34 atletas, voluntarios, de ambos sexos, con edades entre 15 y 29 años. Los participantes pertenecían a 3 equipos: Voleibol Masculino, Voleibol Femenino y Baloncesto Masculino. Los resultados demostraron que al inicio de la competición los atletas de todos los equipos presentaban estado de humor positivo, ya que el factor Vigor obtuvo los mayores escores, pero las atletas del Voleibol Femenino fueron superiores en ese factor a los demás equipos. Se puede concluir que los atletas investigados presentaron escores superiores al factor Vigor, caracterizando la muestra con el perfil denominado de iceberg, perfil considerado ideal para el rendimiento deportivo.O estudo teve o objetivo foi investigar os estados de humor de atletas de esportes coletivos, das equipes da cidade de Itatiba/SP, participantes dos jogos regionais de 2018. Assim, foi utilizada a Escala de Humor de Brunel (BRUMS), junto a 34 atletas, voluntários, do ambos os sexos, com idades entre 15 e 29 anos. Os participantes pertenciam a 3 equipes: Voleibol Masculino, Voleibol Feminino e Basquetebol Masculino. Os resultados demonstraram que no início da competição os atletas de todas as equipes apresentavam estado de humor positivo, já que o fator Vigor obteve os maiores escores, mas as atletas do Voleibol Feminino foram superiores nesse fator as demais equipes.
