Resumo: This article aims to describe how North American cinematographic productions are problematized by Physical Education teachers from public schools located in Rio Grande city. Therefore, we performed the focus group method composed of teachers linked to the final years from elementary school. As a trigger for the thematic discussion, audiovisual material produced based fragments of Coach Carter and Remember The Titans, exhibited to the research group. Data analysis was carried out through the methodological tool of Discursive Textual Analysis: 1) the brazilian physical education teacher and coach-teacher’s figure; 2) sport at school; 3) cinema potential in physical education at school; 4) physical education teacher and his social role. The results point to theconsolidation of the coach-teacher understanding as an aggregate of pedagogical and social characteristics and attitudes exercised in the daily lives of research participants in their teachingactivities.

Para esto, acudimos al método de grupo focal, compuesto por docentes que actúan en los años finales de la educación primaria. Como disparador de la discusión temática, fue utilizado material audiovisual producido con fragmentos de las obras cinematográficas Coach Carter y Remember the Titans, exhibido a los participantes de la investigación. El análisis de los datos se dio a través de la herramienta metodológica del Análisis Textual del Discurso. Los datos producidos posibilitaron la creación de cuatro categorías: 1) el profesor de Educación Física brasileño y la figura del coach-teacher; 2) deporte en la escuela; 3) potencialidad del cine en la Educación Física escolar; 4) el profesor de Educación Física y su papel social. Los resultados apuntan a la consolidación de la comprensión coach-teacher como un agregado de características y actitudes pedagógicas y sociales ejercidas en la vida cotidiana de los participantes en sus actividades docentes.O presente artigo objetiva descrever como algumas produções cinematográficas norte-americanas são problematizadas por professores e professoras de Educação Física  atuantes na rede pública do município de Rio Grande - RS. Para isso, lançamos mão do método do grupo focal, composto por docentes atuantes nos anos finais do ensino fundamental. Como disparador da discussão temática, foi utilizado material audiovisual produzido com fragmentos de obras cinematográficas Coach Carter e Remember The Titans, exibido para os participantes da pesquisa.  A análise dos dados se deu através da ferramenta metodológica da Análise Textual Discursiva. Os dados produzidos possibilitaram a criação de quatro categorias: 1) o professor de Educação Física brasileiro e a figura do coach-teacher; 2) esporte na escola; 3) potencialidade do cinema na Educação Física escolar; 4) o professor de Educação Física e seu papel social.
