Resumo: The aim of this paper is to conduct a discussion about the object of study of physicaleducation (PE). This issue has been addressed within frameworks scientific, philosophicaland political differ greatly from each other. Through historical and dialectical materialistperspective, we defend the bodily culture as an object of study of EF as opposed toidealistic outlook systematized the perspectives of human movement and the cultureof bodily movement. For this project, we do a debate with authors from meaningfulexpression and contributed to the elaboration of this theme in their productions.

Essa questão tem sido tratada dentro de marcos científicos, filosóficos e políticos que divergem profundamente uns dos outros. Através da perspectiva materialista histórica e dialética, defendemos a cultura corporal como objeto de estudo da EF em oposição às perspectivas idealistas sistematizadas nas perspectivas do movimento humano e da cultura corporal de movimento. Para tal empreendimento, fazemos um debate com autores e autoras de significativa expressão e que contribuíram para a elaboração desta temática em suas produções.
