Resumo: The article tries to show the current criminological thinking of the French journalist Emile Girardin. The author, although originating in the nineteenth century, develops a thesis penal abolitionist character with a high degree of actuality, not only with regard to the existing penal theory, contrary to state punitive power, but also with respect to a State development Previdente necessary for the gradual abolition of penalties.
